~Tuesday, August 29th instead of French Toast Sticks as the hot entree we will be serving Waffle Sticks. They are bigger than the French Toast Sticks, so we will only be serving two Waffle Sticks. Yum Yum!
~Classroom volunteers will begin soon once we have established our routines and procedures. At this time I would love a few volunteers if anyone is interested in clerical work (copies, laminating, cutting, etc.) Just email me if you are willing and interested! I can send home clerical work as well! hwiselog@ccs.k12.in.us . Volunteer sign ups can be found in our class Canvas Page.
~If you would like to send headphones/earbuds with your child to use/keep at school please send them marked with his/her name. This is completely optional, as we have plenty in our room we can share.
~I am enjoying reading the information I have received so far from the Parent Input Form I sent out last week. If you have not had a chance to fill it out, please do so at your earliest convenience: Getting to Know your First Grader

~As we are getting into a routine in Room 9 and getting to know each other better, I continue to remind students they can come to me with anything! Questions, concerns, stories, worries, etc. I know sometimes it is easier for them to tell us what they think we want to hear. With time, I hope to establish deep, trusting relationships with all students so they know they can come to me with anything. Please feel free to follow up with this at home as well. Never hesitate to let me know if there is something I can do on my end to help your child continue to grow and learn!
~This week: Guess Who Game items do on or before September 1. (Info came home Monday, Aug. 28)

~ Please send in a family picture for our class "Family Tree". If you would prefer I just print the one I took at the Ice Cream Social, just let me know!
~This week (August 21) NWEA testing will begin for first grade. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and is ready to learn. We will also be discussing the importance of taking our time and test taking strategies on the computer. This Monday will be math and Monday 8/28 will be the reading portion.
~If you will be interested in volunteering this year, this is important info!: FIELD TRIP CHAPERONES/VOLUNTEERS ALL volunteers must have a criminal background check on file at the school. To obtain this report, please log on to your myCCS account and follow the easy steps listed on the website. There is a $33.00 fee and background checks are good for 5 years. Parents will be asked to complete a permission form for each field trip. No one shall be allowed to join a field trip who is not a chaperone.
